The spike absorber absorbs voltage peaks so that harmful voltages are never reached
The FETtec spike absorber uses well-selected TVS diodes to absorb dangerous voltage peaks and thus protect the connected components. The spike absorber is designed for use with an electrolytic capacitor. The capacitor can be mounted directly on it.
It prevents the voltage increase from a certain voltage in which the energy of the voltage spike is absorbed and absorbed.
In electrical drive systems using brushless motors and LiPo batteries, very high voltage and current peaks occur. The best known way to keep them in an area where they do not harm other connected consumers is to use capacitors. This is actually a good method. Capacitors dampen all movements in the voltage by charging themselves when the voltage rises and discharging when they fall again. In some cases, the voltage peaks are too fast for capacitors. These peaks are in the range of nano and microseconds, and can easily reach twice or three times the normal battery voltage. Most consumers tolerate these voltage peaks even if they are far above the actual maximum voltage rating. If the voltage peaks are too strong or if they occur again and again over a longer period of time, voltage regulators, capacitors and FETs can be damaged and fail. The spike absorber absorbs these voltage peaks so that harmful voltages cannot even be reached.
